Rev. Robert L. Smith, Senior Pastor

A native Georgian, Rev. Robert L. Smith graduated from Duke Divinity School in 1989 with a Master of Divinity degree and is his twenty-eight year of ministry. He is married to Pat and they have five children: Bryan, Chris, J.D., Michael, and Stephanie.

After serving churches in Virginia and Tennessee, Rev. Smith was appointed to his current position in June 2007.

Rev Smith has served in leadership positions in the Holston United Methodist Church and several community leadership roles: including the Conference Discipleship Team, Conference Stewardship Committee, Business Manager of the Conference Journal, Associate Secretary for the Conference, District Board of Ordained Ministry, Business Manager of the Journal, District Ministers’ President.

Rev. Smith, the tenth pastor of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, continues to lead the congregation in its strong tradition of spiritual formation, civic leadership, and community service.
